Equipment

The pistols we use are the same basic pistols that are used in the Olympic Games although Olympic shooters will spend a lot of time 'tuning' their triggers and ensuring the grip fits their hand perfectly.

The most commonly used pistols in competitions  today are listed below with the top two most seen being Morini & Steyr;

Morini 162EI

Steyr LP10

Fienwerkbau P44

Walther LP400

Pardini K12

All these pistols are capable of shooting one-hole groups at 10 meters although the challenge for the shooter is to achieve this. These pistols can cost between $2,500 and $3,000 new, however, second-hand pistols can be found for around $1,500 to $2,000 depending on age and condition.

Our club has a number of Morini 162's available to use on club nights for those members who do not own their own.

In addition to a pistol, you will need good quality pellets specifically for an air pistol. These are relatively cheap and a tin of 500 will cost you around $15. These can be purchased at the club.
